Today I worshiped at Jordan Baptist Church, Panama City. For the first time since being here, I preached and was celebrant at a Communion Service in a congregation other than my own. It was a remarkable experience.
Added to this, I had with me Christian friends visiting from Jamaica. It was obvious that this was a new experience for them. There were some clear differences between today’s experience and what they are accustomed to in Jamaica. Thankfully, the entire worship was conducted in English so they were not totally lost.
Also, for me, it was good to preach in English without using an Interpreter. Although I must admit that having an Interpreter has been a tremendous method that the Lord is using to get me to speak slowly for a change. It was an even more interesting experience when at Communion I realized there were no Deacons to assist so I invited persons to come forward to be served, then I served the elderly who were unable to come.
I continue to reflect on the experience, and pray that God will inspire women and men to offer themselves to be prepared for leadership roles in and among the Baptist churches in Panama. This is so badly needed.
Send help Lord!
