Colon Canopy Tour – No Monkey Business!
The Canopy Tour in Colon,Panama is to the best of my knowledge the only one of its kind on the Atlantic Coast of Panama. This Canopy tour thing emerged out of real research that scientists conducted in Panama. Scientists, studying Panama’s rich biodiversity, used the canopy to zip around from tree to tree. They learnt from us – the monkeys.
I’ve been watching local and overseas tourists come day after day, all eager to start swinging from tree to tree. I’m appalled at their idiocy. Tour or no tour, tree swinging is monkey business. And as I watch them, there’s nary a single genuine monkey among them.

This supposedly amazing pastime also takes these monkeys visitors over a section of Rio Piedras. Have you ever seen that river? Here it is anyway.
Trust me, that’s a LOT of water. Yes it is beautiful, and the scenery is breathtaking. But the whole concept of humans zipping like flying monkeys from tree to tree, and paying money for this Canopy Tour which would give any monkey heart failure, is just beyond me.
Every genuine monkey knows it’s safer to travel over land. So until, I’m convinced that this Canopy Tour thing isn’t a stroke waiting to happen…
