And thanks too for the update on the State of Emergency. I wonder how Pastor D..given his Green leanings has not said anything on that point yet.

The very night the statement was being read, I was listening to Nationwide radio online. There was speculation as to the legitimacy of the call and the same idea of 'political mileage' by the Prime Minister was also cited.

Politicizing as opposed to acting for the common good has become such a way of life in the Western world that we have to look under every rock for less than honourable motives in every public act.

The sad thing is, even though you want to believe there is nothing under the rock..there usually is.

What a post!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DERRI!! So we share the same birth month. Isn't it great to be born in the best month of the year!! :-) Oops don't tell anyone I said that ok.
----------------------------------------
Great to know that you are safe. My parents got back light yesterday (Monday). No water yet. Still they are thankful. When I see the devastation in photos I have received it's amazing.
---------------------------------------------
Now Derri...a word of caution. Don't try to stand up in the tea cup ok.

Praying 4 water for you,
Marvia

Dean was quite an experience in that it was mostly just wind and i guess i was supper blessed because were i was it didn't seem so bad. I had cramps and ended up sleeping through most of it. It also caused me to have a rather interesting birthday on the 20th.....

Yup Dean did have its way wid Phillippo Baptist Church roof ( can see pics here http://picasaweb.google.com/dberry40/PhillippoBaptistAfterDean ) This hasn't had the bad results some may anticipate, in fact it has strengthened their fellowship and reliance on God as they seek to rebuild.

Re the state of emergency- sure it would resurrect bad memories for the opposition (and rightly so) but in this case the debates concerning the move by the Prime Minster was more used as a political tool to score election points rather than the need to protect the rights of citizens. To me it was much ado about nothing. Though there is the potential for the abuse of the powers the state of emergency bestows ( as in all cases were one may posses power) Prime Ministers from both parties have called State of Emergencies in the face of, during or after natural disasters.

Oh well, Dean is gone and the rebuilding continues. I got back electricity on Friday... still waiting on water. If i don't get it soon i may have to be satisfied with bathing in a tea-cup :-D I shudder the thought.....

Bless

Pastor D,
Happy to hear from you. Glad you got back life..I mean light :-) What has been the reaction to the State of Emergency? I know the very words causes ripples among members of the opposition. Tell us more.

So after one Hurricane comes another..elections. (sigh)
Stay safe
