Day Of New Beginnings: New Year 2008
Last night’s Watch Night service was for me a real blessing. We celebrated Holy Communion as well. After we had finished eating we sang this hymn. I share the words with you.
Words – Brian Wren (1936- )
Music- Carlton Young (1926- )
This is a day of new beginnings,
Time to remember and move on
Time to believe what love is bringing
Laying to rest the pain that’s gone
For by the life and death of Jesus
God’s mighty Spirit now as then
Can make for us a world of difference
As faith and hope are born again
Then let us with the Spirit’s daring
Step from the past and leave behind
Our disappointment, guilt and grieving
Seeking new paths and sure to find
Christ is alive and goes before us
To show and share what love can do
This is a day of new beginnings
Our God is making all things new
In faith we’ll gather round the table
To taste and share what love can do
This is a day of new beginnings
Our God is making all things new.
*********
My emphasis on the 3rd verse. I hope this will be another year where I will yield to the ‘Spirit’s daring’ (O rebellious child that I am).
What about you? Are you bold enough?
Embrace the day of new beginnings,
Marvia

For those mulling a whole list of resolutions, I think this could very well do!

Jollyjo,
Hmmm…Seems the idea is that we would do much better at keeping commitments than resolutions.
A friend sent me an email saying ‘Resolutions are Out – Commitments are In for 2008′
Semantics, psychological empowerment, or nonsense? lol…what do you think?

are they not one and the same…the end result in the resolutions in the first place was to make a commitment and keep it. so out of those three questions i think it is plain down right nonsense.
