Today I worship in community with friends and in gratitude.
I will marvel again at the beauty and joy of being in the house of the Lord. This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.
Reports from around the world tell of the violent clashes between Christians and believers of other faiths. In some places churches are burnt down because of political unrest. I cannot take this opportunity I have for granted.
To show my gratitude for this privilege, I will be more attentive to the songs, the readings, the prayers and of course the sermon.
Today, I overlook the little errors. I quell my pet peeves. I will greet someone I do not usually talk to, or someone I never met before. Yes, this is the day to refocus and reconnect with what is truly meaningful.
And when the day is done, I will share what I learnt from the sermon with someone after the service and during the week. Perhaps I will send the main points by email to some friends. This would help me keep my pledge to forward only positive stories by email. And wherever I go I will try, if apprpriate to share the message with someone.
Have you been sufficiently attentive in worship? In fact, when was the last time you attended a worship service? I hope you will be inspired to attend today. Join in community, don’t lock yourself away in your house.
Tell us how you spent your day.
Peace,
Marvia
