My Blogging Absence Explained
Blogging at MPJ has received a serious blow from my crazy schedule. I just returned to Panama two weeks ago. I unpacked. And by Friday last week I was packed again.
Our congregation’s Family Retreat was last weekend at Santa Clara. And not even the lure of the Julie mangoes helped. (Liar! Liar!) Ok. Ok. Alright. I confess, only the thought of the Julie mangoes helped me to pack.

I’m tired of packing, unpacking, travelling far distances and so far this year, not one occasion has been for fun. I am either working or working. And then grieving.
However, I Just wanted you my faithful readers to know that I’ve not abandoned you. Thanks for your notes of concern. I do appreciate it. And some of you made me laugh so hard you made my jaw hurt. So here’s my reply to the top three queries. You people are the best!
1. No Marvia’s Panama Journal is not for sale. I’m not courting new management. I leave that to Yahoo and Microsoft.
2. No I’m not a journalist and no I do not travel on assignment. If I did you’d be reading about really interesting things from Sudan, Congo, Myanmar and China.
And here is the jaw-breaker!
3. No the ‘alleged’ boyfriend and wedding bells are not distracting me!! Ha Ha Ha. That one took the cake, the Devon House ice cream, and all the juice in the house. Actually, you are right about the wedding bells. I have 2 weddings coming up this Saturday June 28th and next Saturday July 5th for members at FIBC.
Now here is the real reason for my absence for all you skeptics out there. Give a girl a break ok!
Ministry ‘have me under manners’ (under wraps). So far this year, every single month has brought new demanding events and projects. We are all stretched. And here’s the rub. My committee heads who sat down and came up with all these different ideas are now planning a ‘mutiny.’ Can you imagine!
They asked for it and now they get it they are bawling, ‘aaaiii pastora!’.
So what am I to say? ‘aaaaii Dios mio!’
Hopefully I’ll get some breathing space over the next couple weeks to put up those pictures of the Black Heritage month celebrations here in Panama. I have more Mango reflections from Santa Clara. More tales of Jamaica Baptists. And you cannot miss the stories about Panama Weddings. And I have to write about all these funerals in Panama that’s been following me since May. And you’ll want to come back for the drama with Panama Immigration.
So all you need to do now is help me pray..not for rain this time, but for time to share all those stories with you, for some more strength to make it to August when another Mission Team arrives from Jamaica, and finally for good sense to prevail so we can see that our church Calendar needs to be ‘downsized’!
Until then,
Marvia
