No Valentine’s Day?

The Family Life Committee at First Isthmian prefers to say Love and Friendship Day. I was told, the latter is used instead Valentine’s Day to change the emphasis of February 14th from being an exclusively romantic celebration to include as well, platonic relationships.
Commercialized Romance Day
Changing the name is one step. Reversing how commercialized Valentine’s Day has become is not likely to happen anytime soon. I wouldn’t even put up a fight and call for a return to the traditional meaning of the day either. Decide for yourself after you read the interesting article on Saint Valentine’s Day in Wikipedia.
Love and Friendship Day Celebration
So Valentine’s Day, February 14th is Love and Friendship Day for the members of First Isthmian Baptist. There will be a special Dinner hosted by the Family Life Committee at a local Colon restaurant. Everyone is expected to bring a “friend.” Don’t go there…
I don’t have to wait until February 14th so here is my gift to you – Enjoy Love and Friendship Day when it comes.

One Love,
Marvia

Its good to hear that, and im sure that the good revernd will also bring a “friend”
hahahahaha
You know D I was waiting on some ‘smartie-pants’ friends of mine to make that comment. Notice I said, ‘don’t go there..’.
The reverend is in a quandary – too many friends and only one invitation. Ohh boy
Marvia
“….too many friends” huh… Hey im not like D i wont go there…
That’s an interesting step though and a positive one at that . I’ve heard many alternative names given to this day one of my personal favourites is “Singles Awareness Day” lol
Bless

Derri,
Singles Awareness Day is too funny!! lol
In a context where the emphasis is placed on receiving romantic treats, if there is no one around to fill this role then it certainly becomes ‘Singles Awareness Day’!!
Until,
Marvia
