Panama Wedding Reception

The Wedding Reception

held more surprises…

The Reception, most thankfully, was at a nearby restaurant. And even better, it was night so there was not waiting another 2 hours for the Wedding Party to arrive because they had gone off to take pictures. [The common practice in Jamaica]. For this I was happy it was a night wedding.

So all we starving people can now eat! Oops sorry :-)

The program got underway around 8:35pm. It was at this point that I learnt that the wedding reception program is the reverse of what we do in Jamaica. Of course, I had provided a sample Wedding Reception Program for the couple. Well guess what? That one got nixed in favour of the more popular Panamanian Wedding Reception practice.

After seeing the new program I went – Where’s the food?? come on, you can’t be serious. The bride makes us wait 2 hours and now we wont get to eat before 10:00pm. No way!! Then before I could raise a formal protest and stir the guests up to mutiny the program started…

Chairperson’s Opening Remarks
Welcome & Introduction of Wedding Party
Musical Selections ** What a Wedding Singer we had
Toasts
Groom’s Reply **He took all of 1 minute. Bravo for the Groom!
Cutting of Wedding Cake; Feeding ** The mothers of bride; groom were also fed.
Dance by Couple * And here I must tell you the couple danced a Salsa piece. You should see bride with the train of her wedding gown in hand doing the most restrained Salsa I ever see. haahahha…you have to see it to believe it!
Tossing of the Bridal Bouquet * I used this opportunity to sneak out. It was now 9:30pm and Saturday night sprees before a Sunday when I have to preach is not my practice! It would also be Communion Service so it was going to be a long day for me.

And thank you for asking…of course I got the food packaged to go. I’m serious :-)

I learnt from someone who left at 11:00pm that it was not over when she left. What a Do this was….

So are you ready for a Panama Wedding? Just drop me a note and I’ll arrange that the package comes complete with all this fun and more for you.

Waiting for your comments,
Marvia

The salsa dancing wid the train in hand sounds interesting.
